Nelson Phillips is a graphic designer, marketer, filmmaker, publisher, and communications specialist from Grey County, ON, Canada.

I help brands and organizations tell stories in a lot of different ways.

Graphic Design.

My graphic design experience evolved from a long history of dabbling in painting, drawing, and photography.

I’ve designed advertisements, logos, entire brand identities, signage, websites, posters, merchandise, editorial layout, and social media content for the likes of Grey Bruce Public Health, the Blue Mountain Village, Grey County Tourism, The Sustainability Project, the Apple Pie Trail, Rrampt Magazine, KP9 Interactive, Kilannan Brewing Co, and more.

Marketing.

I’m a certified Digital Marketer with a background in content and inbound strategies. I’ve worked in a Vancouver-based agency as a senior content writer and media strategist, within the tourism sector as a marketing coordinator of special projects, and in tech as a content marketing manager.

I’m all about streamlining brand identities, bringing forward authentic voices and ideals, and making the tough stuff seem simple. When my work resonates with the right audience, buyer persona, or target demographic, that means I’ve successfully connected with them on some deeper level, and that’s gratifying stuff.

On top of traditional marketing, I’ve also been trusted to tackle the production and aesthetic of corporate proposals and investor pitch decks, working to market and unite the strengths of the company and the finances they need to push forward.

Words.

I’ve been an Editor, Contributing Editor, Communications Manager, and a Publisher, writing for the likes of Mountain Life Media, Our Homes Media Group, Rrampt Magazine, the City of Owen Sound, Grey County, Riverbed Marketing, The National Post, various blogs, websites, and more.

My work is called on to cover a vast array of topics, ranging from architecture, medical equipment sales, environmental sustainability, and B2B strategy, to snowboard trips, motorcycle adventures, and craft beer reviews.

Film & Photo.

My love affair with the creative industry began with film and video. I took it as my civic duty to film my friend’s skateboarding growing up.

I graduated from OCAD University in Toronto where I majored in Integrated Media with the goal of becoming a film director. I would go on to be accepted to the Hot Docs International Canadian Documentary Festival’s Doc Accelerator Program as the sole representative from a rural community in 2014.

I’ve made films and shot photos for groups like Grey County Tourism, Hydro One, Mountain Life Magazine, Blue Mountain Village Association, the Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race, Owen Sound Poet Laureate Society, Mudtown Records, City of Owen Sound, Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival, Tom Thomson Art Gallery, and the Grey County Business Enterprise Centre.

Let’s chat.
